Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026 · Version 2026-06-30

This Privacy Policy describes how BAWR Group LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we", "us"), handles information related to Wattro (the "Software") and the wattro.app website.

1. Data Collection

The Software does not collect, transmit, or store personal data from your device for analytics or profiling. Battery, power, and system data read by the Software is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. The wattro.app website collects a limited, separate set of data described in Section 3 below.

2. No Telemetry

The Software contains no automatic analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, or crash reporting. The only network requests the Software makes are (a) license key activation and periodic re-validation (Pro users only) and (b) optional update checks. If you choose to email support from within the app, the message you send may include diagnostic logs and your most recent crash report to help us assist you — this is composed in your own email client and sent only when you initiate it; nothing is transmitted automatically.

3. Website Analytics

When you use the /download link on wattro.app, our website logs one row per download to a Cloudflare D1 database before redirecting you to the installer: the date, your country (derived from Cloudflare's edge network, not stored as a raw IP address), the referring page, any campaign tag in the link, a coarse OS bucket parsed from your browser's user-agent string, and a one-way cryptographic hash used only to estimate unique downloads per day. This hash is salted with a secret key we control, self-expires daily, and does not contain or reveal your IP address. The website sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. This data is processed using Cloudflare's infrastructure (Cloudflare, Inc., acting as our data processor); see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

4. License Verification

If you purchase a Pro license, your license key is verified by our license service (hosted on Supabase) during activation and re-validated periodically. Each request transmits your license key together with a device identifier — a one-way cryptographic hash (fingerprint) derived from your Mac's hardware identifier — and the device's name (for example, "Jane's MacBook Pro"). We record this device fingerprint, the device name, and activation timestamps in our license database so that we can enforce the per-license limit of three (3) active devices at a time. In response we return a short-lived signed certificate that the Software can verify offline for approximately 35 days. We do not receive your battery, power, usage, or other analytics data as part of this verification.

Separately, when you accept our Terms of Service or request a license-key resend, our servers record the IP address and user-agent string of that request, in addition to your email address. This is retained for fraud prevention, abuse mitigation (e.g. rate-limiting repeated resend requests), and to maintain a record of terms acceptance. License-delivery emails are sent through Resend, an email-delivery sub-processor; see Resend's Privacy Policy.

5. Local Storage

The Software stores the following data locally on your device using macOS UserDefaults, the system Keychain, and a local SQLite database:

This data is never transmitted anywhere. You can delete it by removing the app and its preferences.

6. Privileged Helper

Wattro includes an optional, opt-in helper component that runs with elevated system privileges (installed via macOS's standard authorized-daemon mechanism, requiring your explicit approval). The helper exists solely to perform actions the Software cannot perform from user space: enforcing a charge limit, forcing a battery discharge, scheduled or location-based top-off, and temperature-based charge pause. The helper does not collect, transmit, or store any data beyond what is described elsewhere in this policy — it is privileged but not telemetric. You can disable or remove the helper at any time from Wattro's Settings or via the uninstall flow.

7. Purchase & Payment Data

If you purchase a Pro license, we collect and store your email address, the Polar order identifier, and the purchase amount for the purpose of issuing and supporting your license. Payment card data is handled directly by Polar Software Inc. ("Polar") on Polar's checkout and is not transmitted through or stored on our servers. Polar acts as the Merchant of Record for Wattro Pro purchases and is an independent controller of the information you provide to them at checkout; their handling of that information is governed by Polar's Privacy Policy.

8. Data Retention & Your Rights

We retain license records — including the device fingerprints, device names, and activation timestamps described in Section 4 — for as long as your license is active, and for up to seven (7) years after account closure or your last purchase, in line with standard tax and accounting recordkeeping requirements. Terms-acceptance records and resend-request logs (IP address, user agent, email, and timestamp) are retained for up to twelve (12) months for fraud-prevention and abuse-mitigation purposes, after which they are deleted on a rolling basis. Website download-analytics rows (Section 3) are retained for up to twenty-four (24) months. You may request access to, correction of, or earlier deletion of the records associated with your email by emailing [email protected], subject to our need to retain minimal records for legal and tax compliance. Deleting a license record will deactivate the associated Pro license.

9. Children

The Software is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date and version identifier.
